Air Plant Gift Presentation Idea

β€œNature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.” -E. O. Wilson

Tillandsia Gift IdeaWhen you give air plants (a.k.a. Tillandsia) as a gift, it’s all about aesthetic presentation. You can give the simplest of plants and make them look amazing if placed in the right package or container.

This gifting idea was thought up when we donated plants for a raffle at the Atomic Holiday Bazaar this past December. We just wanted it to look really cool and unique while providing protection for the plants while being bounced around until they found their new owners.

We were originally looking for a clear Chinese food take-out container so we went to a couple different stores without much luck. They were either not clear or made too flimsy so we kept looking…. We finally found a different container at Michaels Arts & Crafts Store; it was modeled after a paint can except it was clear plastic and we thought it was perfect for our gifting idea. I don’t know why Michaels wasn’t our first stop to begin with….

This gift was made up of three small air plants mounted on three small pieces of natural cork. The air plants were placed on a thick, cushy bed of sheet moss then placed into the container. Then we added a couple pieces of decorative reindeer moss.

We attached one of our business cards to the handle but if you were gifting it, this is where you might want to add your own personal card or β€œTo: From:” tag.

At first glance, you may think it’s a terrarium but it actually was not meant to be; this was only meant to be the packaging and aesthetic presentation. On the other hand, if the air plants were given the proper air circulation they need by removing the lid, the plants could do well inside.
